Tyre Pressure Warning Light Reset Guides

The below video's show a step by step guide on how to reset the tyre pressure warning light on a variety of Honda models.

Maintaining the correct tyre pressure is important for the safety, performance and economy of your Honda. Low tyre pressure will not only adversely affect fuel economy, it will also increase stopping distances and reduce steering response and vehicle stability. EU Directive 661/2009 requires all passenger vehicles registered after 1st November 2014 to be equipped with a tyre deflation warning system.

Please Note: If the deflation warning is activated, it is very important to stop the car and check your tyre pressures. Adjust each to the correct pressures shown on the information sticker on the driver’s door shut. Once the tyres are checked and the tyre pressures adjusted you should then reset the deflation warning system. Before proceeding, the car must be in park and handbrake on, otherwise the tyre deflation will be greyed out not allow you to reset the system.

If any of your tyres showed a significant loss of pressure, then it is possible that you have a puncture. This increases the likelihood of a blowout and must be checked at the earliest opportunity. In the meantime please keep your speed below 55mph.

Honda e:HEV Models - Tyre Deflation Warning Reset

To reset the tyre deflation light on the Jazz, HR-V & Civic e:HEV.

Make sure you car is switched on & in park with the hand break on.
On your centre infotainment system, select the HOME button
Select the > RIGHT arrow once
Select VEHICLE
Select SETTINGS
Select CALIBRATE .

To reset the tyre deflation light on the CR-V e:HEV

Make sure your car is turned on & in park with the hand break on.
On the centre infotainment system tap the HOME button
Select SETTINGS
Select VEHICLE
Select DEFLATION WARNING SYSTEM
Select INITIALISE

It is recommended by our technicians to repeat the process 3 times to guarantee a full system reset.

Honda Models with Display Audio - Tyre Deflation Warning Reset

You can calibrate the system from the customised feature on the audio/information screen:

Turn the ignition switch to ON
Select HOME.
Select Settings.
Select Vehicle.
Select Deflation Warning System.
Select Cancel or Initialise.

If the Failed message appears, repeat steps 4-6.
The calibration process finishes automatically.

Please Note: Calibration of the DWS without adjusting the tyre pressures will lead to the warning indicator to be displayed. Following the calibration process the car will require driving for approximately 30 minutes of cumulative driving at speeds between 25 - 62mph. As this is cumulative this does not require completing in one journey.

*1: Models with the keyless access system have an ENGINE START/STOP button instead of an ignition switch.

Honda Models without Display Audio - Tyre Deflation Warning Reset

You can calibrate the system from the customised features on the multi-information display:

Press ^i / v button until the menu button appears on the display, then press the SEL/RESET button. > SPEED ALARM appears on the display.
Press SEL/RESET button until DEFLATION WARNING SYSTEM appears on the display.
Press the SEL/RESET button. > The display switches to the customisation setup screen, where you can select CANCEL or INITIALISE.
Press ^i/v button and select INITIALISE, then press the SEL/RESET button. > COMPLETED screen appears, then the display returns to the customisation menu screen.

The calibration process finishes automatically.

Tyre Maintenance Tips

Tyre Replacement

The DWS may not function properly if tyre type and size are mixed. Make sure to use the same size and type of tyre. We recommend that the tyres be replaced with the same brand, model, and size as the originals. Contact us for details if you are unsure of these. Although not a legal requirement, it is good practice to replace tyres in pairs and on the same axle. It is also advisable if there is more than 2mm difference in tread depth across all tyres. Failure to replace tyres in pairs may result in false activation of the iDWS warning light due to a difference in tyre size.

Checking your tyres

The condition and pressure of your tyres means better handling, fuel efficiency and safety, as well as less wear. It’s a good idea to check them at least once a month.

Tyre pressure

Your owner’s manual will have the recommended tyre pressure for your car. You should check it when your tyres are completely cold and try to use the same pressure gauge each time.

That way you’ll have a better idea whether the pressure loss is a tyre problem or a difference between gauges.

Tyre condition

While you’re checking your tyres, look out for anything unusual. Any bumps, bulges, cuts, splits, cracks or threadbare areas can cause you problems on the road. If you spot any of these, should bring your car in for us to take a look as soon as possible.

Spare tyre and repair kit

If your car has a spare tyre, make sure it’s in good condition and your tyre repair kit hasn’t passed its expiry date.

Reset the Oil Check Reminder on the Honda Civic e:HEV

On the Honda Civic e:HEV Hybrid, a message is displayed on the multi info display every 3,100 miles reminding the owner to check their oil.

Once you have checked your oil levels, and everything looks to be optimal, you can simply reset the oil level check reminder your self. Do not drive if you cars engine oil is low as this can damage the engine.

There a 2 ways to reset the oil level system depending on model Spec. Here we are going to show you how to do it on centre display which can be done on the Elegance, Sport & Advance. The Advance has the additional option to be reset on the driver's display.

Keeping your battery charged

There are a few simple things to make sure your battery won’t let you down.

Avoid not driving your car for extended periods. Try and make at least one trip a week.
Make sure your head lights are turned off and all your doors are closed when leaving the car,

Checking your oil levels

The right amount of oil is essential for keeping your engine running, so make sure you check it regularly.

Keep topped up with fuel

Be sure to keep your tank topped up, just in case you need a little extra fuel than you thought.

And be sure to fill up with the right fuel – if you put the wrong type in it can cost a lot to repair and even cause permanent damage.

Checking your cooling system

If your levels are low, your engine might overheat.

So make sure your coolant levels are right and there are no signs of coolant leaks around the engine bay or underneath your car. Check your owner’s manual for more details.

Just in case you break down, it’s a good idea to keep a few essential things in your car. Here’s what we suggest:
